From December 3rd - December 8th, the Body Freedom For Every(Body) truck traveled to Miami, Florida!

From December 3–4, the truck joined the New Art Dealers Alliance during ABMB, where Body Freedom Co-Creator Jasmine Wahi curated special spotlights for their Miami fair. On December 6, in collaboration with Art Mamas Alliance, we participated in REPRO: Uncensored, a full-day event focused on reproductive healthcare and bodily autonomy. Body Freedom Co-Creator Rebecca Pauline Jampol, along with Body Freedom Artists/Art Mama Members Andrea Chung and Aimee Koran, led TRUCK TALK: Art Mamas on This Moment, a discussion on motherhood, making, and mobilization. We concluded the tour on December 8 at Pérez Art Museum Miami, in partnership with Commissioner, with Body Time. The program included a director-led tour, an intimate introduction to Season Seven artist Antonia Wright, who shared her installation, State of Labor, and a restorative sound bath led by transdisciplinary artist Agua Dulce and spiritual practitioner Sayje Hewitt.

Miami Beach Location Partners:

Art Mamas Alliance is a supportive community for parents in the arts, founded by Katy Donoghue and Helen Toomer in 2019. “We didn’t realize how isolating being a parent could be. When we had our children, we looked around and wondered, where are our people? We didn’t hear discussions of motherhood among our creative and professional peers. So we decided to change that.” Learn more here.

Launched in 2018 in Miami by Dejha Carrington and Rebekah Monson, Commissioner is an art membership program that leverages the collective membership of our community to commission work by local contemporary artists, while providing members with the knowledge, relationships and experiences they need to collect art in more ways. Founded in 2002, the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is a not-for-profit 501c6 collective of professionals working with contemporary art. Our mission is to create an open flow of information, support, and collaboration within our field and to develop a stronger sense of community among our constituency. We believe that the adversarial approach to exhibiting and selling art has run its course. We believe that change can be achieved through fostering constructive thought and dialogue between various points in the art industry from large galleries to small spaces, non-profit and commercial alike. Through support and encouragement, we facilitate strong and meaningful relationships between our members working with new contemporary and emerging art; while enhancing the public’s interaction with contemporary art. Through their exhibitions and programs, PAMM aims to encourage everyone to see art as an incentive for genuine human interaction, communication, and exchange. Learn more here.
