Project for Empty Space is seeking an experienced Truck Operator for a multi-state tour starting September 2024. This position is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of a mobile event from city to city. This role requires the professionals to have experience navigating, fueling, monitoring, parking, and handling a 27’ box truck. The drivers must also be adaptable to changing schedules and routes, while also following the Federal Hours of Service guidelines driving schedule.Project for Empty Space is a woman-run, femme-powered, People of the Global Majority/BIPOC, Queer, and unapologetically radical ecosystem for creatives. BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) is a cross-country exhibition tour inside of a 27-foot Box Truck celebrating Reproductive Justice, Queer Liberation, and Trans Joy. This project aims to create awareness, cultivate community, and engender support for bodily autonomy through art.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate the event truck across various geographic locations, ensuring safe transit and adherence to all traffic laws
Conduct conduct daily pre and post-trip inspections
Assist in loading and unloading equipment and supplies
Coordinate closely with the tour manager to optimize travel routes and schedules
Qualifications:
Interstate (Class A) Commercial Driver's License (including cleared background check)
A minimum of 30 months experience working
No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents* while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No preventable* DOT recordable accidents (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last ten (10) years.
No preventable accidents* resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history (commercial motor vehicle).
Valid US driver’s license and auto insurance
Clean driving record
1-3 years experience of tour driving or equivalent experience
Clear, transparent communication skills
Proactive, enthusiastic, amenable to working in a team

Overview:
We’re looking for on-site volunteers for the truck-bound exhibition BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY). BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) is a cross-country exhibition tour inside of a 27-foot Box Truck celebrating Reproductive Justice, Queer Liberation, and Trans Joy. This project aims to create awareness, cultivate community, and engender support for bodily autonomy through art.There are a number of ways to volunteer: from checking visitors in - to facilitating interactive artist projects (bookmaking, poster making, etc). The exhibition is typically open from 12-6pm, with 2 hour volunteer shifts- although you may volunteer for as long as you’d like!
